Zhijin Weimao 织锦帷帽 Wu Zhou Brocade Veiled Hat
One of the most romantic forms of headwear in Chinese history, the weimao 帷帽 is a veiled hat originating from the Sui dynasty. Worn by aristocratic women on excursions, the weimao 帷帽 quickly became a popular fashion items for women around the country.
This version of the weimao is specifically based on artifacts from the Wu Zhou period, the time of China's only Empress: Wu Zetian 武則天.
Made of bright brocades rather than straw, the wide brim shields the face from sun while the curved top design hugs your topknot for stability, making it a durable hat for any journey of a thousand miles.
The typical solid cloth veil is replaced with decorative brocaded tassels, an way for noblewomen to appear more mysterious!
